Maxine Miller Legacy Fund

It's not too late to support the Maxine Miller Legacy Fund! Click here to make a gift of any size today.

The Need

The Maxine Miller Legacy Fund was created to help support students in the University of Arkansas’ Gender Studies Program with scholarships, undergraduate research travel, graduate conference travel, mentor expenses, and more.

The fund was created through a partnership with Andrea Foren, Maxine’s great-niece who took over the bar when she passed away, along with current Maxine’s caretaker Hannah Withers and University of Arkansas Gender Studies professor Lisa Corrigan.

About Maxine Miller

Maxine Miller opened Maxine’s Tap Room on March 18, 1950, the day after St. Patrick’s Day, when she was just 24 years old. She borrowed money to open the business from her parents, and it was so successful early on that she was able to pay back that loan within a year.

Maxine’s Tap Room turned 70 during the pandemic, and is set to celebrate its 75th year in business in 2025. It continues to be an example in the hospitality industry of inclusiveness and care for patrons, staff, and the larger University of Arkansas community.

How You Can Help

We're seeking to fundraise $10,000 by May 31st for the Maxine Miller Legacy Fund. Our goal is to establish a fund that will honor her legacy, ideally through an endowment, and we're asking you to help us get part of the way there! If an endowment is not attainable, your gift today will still have an impact on University of Arkansas students by providing immediate scholarship support!

All contributions to this fund are tax-deductible, with 100% of the donation going to the fund, so please help us support University of Arkansas students in the name and memory of Maxine Miller!
