Team Up To Support Our Animal Science Teams

41 friends and alumni have teamed up with us to provide $41,425 in support!

Team Up To Support Our Animal Science Teams

Thank you so much to all who teamed up with our students to support the animal science teams! Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Without the support of our loyal alumni and friends we would not be able to have these award winning teams.

While we are grateful for all of the support, the financial need does not end with this campaign. If you would like to make a long term investment in one of our teams or make an additional donation, please contact Jill Bowman at jeb029@uark.edu .

Thank you again!

A “team” can be described as a group of individuals working together to achieve a common goal. Within the Department of Animal Science, we offer three competitive judging and equestrian teams that provide students lifelong networking opportunities in addition to nurturing the growth and development of various personal skills. Individuals join these teams with their own unique stable of knowledge and abilities, but it is only when they work together as a team that they can fully achieve their goals. As the saying goes, Together Everyone Achieves More, and that is why we are asking everyone to: Team Up to Support Our Animal Science Teams.

COVID-19 has presented many challenges for numerous people and organizationsincluding our department’s teams and their fundraising efforts. Typically, our judging and equestrian team members will provide community services via camps, clinics, and other educational training sessions that assist in funding their programs. This year, however, our teams have had to creatively branch out and explore new avenues, such as the creation of this campaign. Our goal is to raise funds to support the U of A ranch horse, livestock judging, and equine judging teams in addition to the animal science general fund.

Team Up to Support our Animal Science Teams is a week long drive to raise $10,000 for each of the teams from Oct. 16 - 23, 2020.

Fundraiser Teammates: Become fundraiser teammates with someone by matching their donation or invite people you know to become your teammates by matching your gift! Prior U of A team members are encouraged to work with their former teammates in an effort to “rein” supreme as the top donation team.

A Letter from our Livestock Judging Team Livestock Judging Team

The University of Arkansas livestock judging team allows students to develop and further their knowledge of the livestock industry and develop skills in organization, critical thinking, decision-making, reasoning, presentation, and public speaking.  These skills will benefit the students for the rest of their lives and help them with job opportunities, graduate school, and life beyond Bumpers College.

Your contributions will be awarded to the livestock judging team members to assist them with contest travel expenses. As you all are aware, the cost of travel is extremely high and your help is needed for the team members as they strive to continue and build upon the tradition of livestock judging at the University of Arkansas that many of you have already played important roles in establishing.

We hope it will be possible for you to join in contributing to this fundraiser.  Past members of the U of A livestock judging teamlivestock producers, and all program supporters continue to be one of the strongest assets for the department, and we sincerely appreciate your efforts!

A Letter from our Ranch Horse Team

Our ranch horse team within the Department of Animal Science has found remarkable success as an organization, bringing home the D-II Reserve National Championship in 2016 and the D-II National Championship in 2017 and 2018. Our team members have won numerous individual titles and accolades at the regional level, as well as at the National Championship show. The team has successfully represented the state, Division of Agriculture, Bumpers College, and the Department of Animal Science in national competitions

The successes of our teams have caused an outstanding increase in the type of competitors we are able to recruit and has spread the notoriety and support of our program across the state and the nation. We are ready to take the next steps to make University of Arkansas one of the country’s top choices for equine competition.

On behalf of the equine competitive team members, we sincerely appreciate any contributions that are made, as all gifts will be used to assist team members with competitions, travel, and various other supplies.

We hope it will be possible for you to join in contributing to the University of Arkansas competitive equine teams!

A Letter from our Equine Judging Team

Our equine judging team is newly reestablished and has quickly stated their presence among top-tier judging programs. Our team brought home the title of Champion Overall Team at the National Cutting Horse Association Judging Contest. Four of our students made top ten as individuals, which was the most from any collegiate team. From those four, our team had a reserve champion along with third, fourth and sixth place individual finishes. The U of A equine judging team made a statement at the contest with a dominating performance and we are truly excited for what the future holds.

The successes of our teams have caused an outstanding increase in the type of competitors we are able to recruit and has spread the notoriety and support of our program across the state and the nation. We are ready to take the next steps to make University of Arkansas one of the country’s top choices for equine competition.
