LL.M. Program in Agricultural & Food Law: Graduate Assistantship

The Opportunity

Calling all LL.M. Alumni!  You already know that living and studying in Fayetteville is a treasured experience. Let's continue the tradition. Help us fund a new Alumni-Sponsored Graduate Assistantship position for candidates studying on campus in Fayetteville.

This special assistantship will be funded with the help of our wonderful alumni -- and will make it possible for the most qualified candidates to join the program. Many of these candidates could not afford to step away from busy careers and other obligations to relocate to Fayetteville for nine months. Because our assistantships are reserved for on-campus students, these students also get to join the University of Arkansas family and experience the joy of living in Fayetteville -- a true hidden gem.

The Need

Now, more than ever, attorneys with specialized agricultural and food law expertise are needed. The projects, research and outreach our candidates complete as graduate assistants promote the national and international reputation of the LL.M. Program. Help us recruit the next generation of leaders in agricultural and food law -- here and throughout the world! As the first advanced legal degree in Agricultural & Food Law in the nation, we seek to continue to strengthen our reputation by recruiting the best candidates.

Having funds on hand dedicated to student support will enhance our recruiting efforts and make it possible to support the scholarly and practical contributions our candidates make. No one knows the benefits of the program or the delight of living and studying in Fayetteville like our alumni. Help us pay it forward by considering a donation for student support.

Please Give

We have only 30 days to reach our goal of $6,000. This amount ensures funding for one semester. Of course, our hope is to exceed this goal to be able to fund a full year's assistantship. Beyond that, we hope to be able to continue this special Alumni-Sponsored Graduate Assistantship each year with your support. Should we miss our goal of $6,000, funds will be directed to a general student support account dedicated to enhancing the practical, professional and academic development of our candidates.

Donations (anonymous or otherwise) in any amount are appreciated.

$40

1st Decade Donor

This is where it all began! In 1981, LL.M. Director Jake Looney welcomed our inaugural class. Candidates from this era remember first-hand the Farm Crisis and Professor Don Pedersen's Agricultural Law casebook . Since that time, our alumni have brought their expertise to policy, practice, advocacy and education. Help us continue the tradition by donating $40 in honor of the LL.M. program’s first decade!

$80

2nd Decade Donor

During the 1990s, the LL.M. Program in Agricultural Law continued under the leadership of Don Pedersen and Lonnie Beard. Our current director, Susan Schneider, received her degree in 1991. Give $40 x 2 decades to help a new LL.M. candidate join the family!

$120

3rd Decade Donor

Did you know? In 2000, Professor Susan Schneider took over as LL.M. Program Director, and it was during this decade that the LL.M. Program in Agricultural Law became the LL.M. Program in Agricultural & Food Law. Please consider a gift of $40 x 3 decades to support the next generation of LL.M. grads.

$160

4th Decade Donor

It's been nearly 40 years since the LL.M. program at the University of Arkansas School of Law began. A gift of $40 x 4 decades gets us one step closer to our goal!

$304

Number of Graduates

Since our inaugural class in 1981, we've graduated 304 candidates! Help us reach and/or exceed our goal by donating and encourage your fellow classmates to do the same.

$600

Director's Appreciation Gift

$1,980

Founding Year

1980 is the year our program launched and the year our LL.M. alumni family network began. A gift of $1,980 will greatly accelerate our ability to reach our goal of $6,000.
